Consistently captures the AP signal
- FiberOptix technology reliably captures consistent AP information from aorta to pump. Unlike conventional fluid-filled system, the FiberOptix sensor is unaffected by routine conditions such as dampening, flushing, blood draws noise, and transducer movement. So you can be confident in the AP signal the catheter captures.
Transmits better information Faster
- With FiberOptix, you can depend on faster transmission of the AP signal through the catheter. The unique FiberOtpix sensor in the tip of the catheter uses reflected light traveling at 186,000 miles per second to measure changes in AP. The result: better AP information communicated faster than conventional fluid-filled catheters.
Resists Kinking
- The FiberOptix 7.5Fr Flex wire-reinforced catheter delivers easy and reliable intra-aortic balloon (IAB) performance. It features a better kink-resistant body and large gas lumen for optimal, consistent gas flow between balloon and pump. The small 7.5Fr catheter body also maximizes arterial flow around the catheter, reducing the risk of limb ischaemia.
Reliable Support – even during Arrhythmia’s
- FiberOptix supports the clinical needs of intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) patients when used in combination with Arrow’s AutoCAT 2 WAVE® pump console. Both FiberOtpix 7.5Fr and 8Fr catheters utilise speed-of-light signal acquisition and transmission facilitating accurate balloon timing – even in patients with severe arrhythmias.
Reliable Speed of Light response
- Speed-of-light AP signal acquisition overcomes the delays of fluid-filled systems to set timing accurately during arrhythmias
- AP Signal converted to aortic flow calculates the future AV closure with 98% accuracy during severe arrhythmias.
- FiberOptix AP signal is unaffected by dampening, noise, and movement – and will not degrade over time.

- Optional wire-reinforced catheter: Choose either the original FiberOptix 8 or the FiberOptix 7.5Fr Flex with wire-reinforced, kind-resistant catheter body
- Abrasion-resistant balloon membrane: Our Cardiothane™ balloon offers a unique design of abrasion-resistant material with hydrophilic coating
- Universal design: Sheathed or sheathless insertion options and optional haemostasis device for post-insertion bleeding control are available
- Flexible Fit: Fits through 8Fr sheaths (available in 30cc or 40cc sizes)
- Easy and reliable: Eliminates many routine user-intervention and signal problems:
• No maintenance of fiberoptic signal
• No electrical interference from diathermy
• No transducer-induced motion artifact
• No re-zeroing of transducers.
- The accurate, real-time advantages of the FiberOtpix catheters are available only when the catheter is used with the AutoCAT 2 WAVE pump console. However, FiberOptix can be used as a conventional catheter with any IABP ensuring continuity and ease in cases of patient transfer.
