Oxygen therapy is the administration of oxygen at a concentration greater than that in ambient air, with the intent of treating or preventing the symptoms and manifestations of hypoxia. We can offer a wide range of oxygen therapy products for use in both the hospital and home environment.
We offer a range of tubing, connectors and masks ensure that the most appropriate product - or combination of products - is available for the patient whether the oxygen is delivered from an oxygen cylinder, a piped wall supply or an oxygen concentrator.
In variable oxygen concentration devices the gas flow is less than the patient's inspiratory flow rate, this means that room air will be entrained lowering the FiO2. The FiO2 will vary depending on the patient's ventilatory pattern, the oxygen flow from the flowmeter, and the fit of the device.

New Environment friendly (Non PVC) Eco Oxygen therapy range
Within the medical device industry environmental issues have been raised from pressure groups that have questioned the use of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) in medical products. There is particular concern with the disposal of PVC products especially when it involves incineration, due to potential release of harmful gases. As part of a continual improvement process, Intersurgical aims to reduce the environmental impact of its products and process. This has resulted in a long search for alternative materials to PVC to address these concerns.
Utilisation of the latest manufacturing technology has enabled intersurgical to combine two (non PVC) materials in the same mask. The material forming the body of the mask is clear and rigid enough to maintain the masks shape. A second, softer material is utilised in the manufacture of the seal, which is in contact with the patients face.
The result is the new Intersurgical Eco Oxygen therapy mask range. This new manufacturing method required a complete redesign of the mask. This provided an ideal opportunity to make improvements in other areas. These include:
- An incurved face seal provides a vastly improved level of comfort
- “On-chin” positing provides a better fit to a wider range of face shapes
- A low elastic position eliminating trauma to the patients ears
- Improved seal design eliminates the need for a separate nose clip
- Reduced impact on the environment

In addition, Intersurgical have developed a new mask concept.
The new FiltaMask combines an oxygen delivery system with a filter media covering the exhalation ports. FiltaMask is intended for use on patients with respiratory infections who may be a source of aerosolised infectious pathogens and who also require supplementary oxygen.
